Kosmic Mains Day race report
O.K. I’ve finally had a couple of minutes!!
This weekend was off the charts! It was amazing to watch all those 1/8 scale cars blazing around the track at 67+ MPH!!!
DialednTV was also on site on Sunday to take some video and do interviews!
The finals were nail biters! Especially the 1/8 final I had money on Jamie who lead almost 2/3 the way through the final until Kenny kicked in the Hyperdrive! Jamie purposely dialed back a bit to conserve tires and Kenny’s pit crew did an amazing job to get him in and out quickly! We timed Victoria and the entire pitstop including pit entry and exit took 5.6 seconds!!! That means it only took her ~2.5 seconds to fill the car and release it! In the end The two swapped the lead for a little w/ Kenny making a small mistake but the marshals were on the spot and got him going, it came down to the wire with Kenny Ive’s taking it by roughly a half a lap! Amazing stuff! I’m telling you I wish there was a way to capture this stuff so you could see it again as it was crazy to watch the sportsman ship in the mid field, even though they had their own races going for position they gave the leaders room to pass and battle it out!
The A sedan final was as well crazy intense. DJ and Paolo battled back and forth for the first half of the race and DJ made a small mistake, but at 65mph it’s hard to keep going after a hit!! Paolo got called in for a stop and go for a pit lane violation and when he came out there were flames behind the car!!!! He went in in first and came out in fifth, within 4 minutes he was back up in second and closing rapidly on the leader. The next pit rotation saw Paolo come in early to get him out of traffic, however he ran out of tires towards the end of the race and then it was down to Diatta to fend off the hard charging Scooby Horton and Troy Woodson. All three were driving superbly w/ their last set of laps within thenths of each other! It was again amazing to see these guys drive this way. Lap after lap they would take a thenth here 2 tenths there it seriously reminded me of the F1 season opener in Australia!
The GT class was no different! The A final saw the bumps form the B challenging for Podium spots!! The Serpent Cobras were extremely dominant, watching these cars make their way around the track made me want to go get one (Serpent guys you can mark kit #1 for me hahaha). The field was full of top contenders but it was Paolo, Tony Q and Rino battling at the front at the buzzer! During the Race Tony Q suffered some mechanical problems and Paolo suffered some electrical problems leaving the track clear for Rino to drive to a 4 lap lead, Yuri, who drove a solid weekend and kept it smooth and clean finished in a well deserved second with the B main bump driver finished on the podium!
In electric our TQ had to leave early however it was not a disappointing show!! DoubleD was quick and barring a few mistakes would have been pressuring the leader Irvine Cole for that position. DJ was driving my car so I could call the race and wasn’t technically counted during this round. Ernie C was fast and solid through the esses where he was able to make time on Dave, however Dave’s car had a slight advantage entering the sweeper and that put the two drivers at a stalemate until late in the race when Dave used the 3rd channel to kick in the 9S lipo he had hidden under the rear wing and took off on the hunt for Irvine!
The B mains were as exciting and I tell you folks DON’T MISS THE NEXT ONE!!
Huge thanks go out to the race directors they worked very well together and did a great job! Huge thanks to DJ for the seminars, people are chimping at the bit to try their new found clutch skills out! Huge thanks to John and G-Force for their healthy donation to the track! Huge thanks to you the racers for making it such an enjoyable and memorable weekend!!
Until next time folks … It’s me signing off!

Awesome day of racing today weather was a little chilly but rain held off until around 7pm!!
The program was efficient, and ran very very well!
The racing was TIGHT! w/ the last qualifiers in all classes being the tightest!
In GT class Tony Q and Paolo were trading blows and Tony took home the Sat TQ honors! Paolo has vowed revenge and from what I understand these two have been battling since the big GT race in Puerto Rico!
In 1/8 King Diamond is FAST!! Ralph Jamie and Walo are closer than the time sheets would have you believe! Joey and Paulie are also in the running. However i heard rumors that John “OMFG that’s fast” Hoffman may make his way out tomorrow. If he does it’s going to be an amazing day!!
1/10 King Diamond was also quick the final qualifier was crazy close with multiple drivers on exactly the same lap times down to the thousands of a second! In the end it was DJ who took TQ honors w/ Paolo close at his heels. There was also a race for third between Scooby and Troy woodson that had the crowd on it’s feet!
The seminars were brilliant!! DJ went into the in’s and outs of motor breakin, clutch building, and otehr various topics that racers had!! He is fantastic and more than one racer said the seminars were worth 10x the price of admission.
Paolo went through the Serpent Cobra GT car and the 747 and the video’s will be on Youtube in a bit.
All in all it was a great day. Results to follow in a sec!
Track opens at 7am and qualifying starts at 10 am tomorrow!! supposed to be 70* and clear and sunny so bring the sun glasses!!
Results for April 15, Opening weekend!
